Welcome to the Montana Retail Association web site!  I hope you will find it useful in your daily life as a retailer.  My staff and I will be working hard to keep the site fresh with new information on legislative trends in the Montana Legislature, regulatory proposals that impact your business and educational offerings.  Many operators join to take advantage of member benefits like our work comp and health insurance pools or our credit processing, but most of them come to realize that our most valuable service is the advocacy and lobbying representation that the association does on their behalf.  Our strength lies in our numbers, which is why your support is so vital.    

I am the association's full-time lobbyist during the legislative session, my favorite part of the job.  As such, I am in the Capital all day every day making sure that your concerns are heard loud and clear to our 150 Legislators.  Make no mistake, our power in Helena comes from you, our members.  When legislators hear from the folks back home, it serves as a powerful reminder that they are in Helena to represent you, their constituents.  It also reinforces what I am telling them through my testimony and one-on-one lobbying.
 
Your Board of Directors and I work hard to offer a number of member benefits that bring real dollars and cents value to your membership.  We have one of the largest worker's compensation and health insurance pools in the state and many members have saved thousands on these two essential offerings.  We also have several in-house experts on credit card processing that can help you make an apples-to-apples comparison of your credit card statement.  They can help make sense of the often dizzying array of rates that your business is charged each time it accepts a credit card.  These in-house experts can give you personalized service in all aspects of your operation from credit card processing to check processing and payroll services.  I invite you to call them and let them explain our services.
